Student Welcome Day

Attention SCCS students and parents, please join us on Monday, August 19th for Student Welcome Day! All SCCS student families, both new and returning, are invited to attend. Choose either the morning or evening session, but please do not miss this important and joyful kick-off to the 2019-2020 school year! Each session will begin with a brief but important meeting in Reber Space (look for the basement door in the Journey office building located on the corner of Reber Place and Kingshighway) where we will share and connect about the year ahead, distribute some important forms, and give you the opportunity to sign up for volunteer roles. Afterwards, we will all head over to the school building where students will visit their classrooms and meet their teachers. Morning Session: 10:00... Read More

Give STL Day

On May 1st SCCS will participate in Give STL Day, a day of online giving that benefits nonprofits in St. Louis. Visit our Give STL Day page to donate!

Shakespeare’s Macbeth

Save the date for a certain Scottish play performed by our very own SCCS Shakespeare Troupe! Our 5th-8th grade actors and crew, directed by Eric Martin, will give two full performances on the evenings of April 25th & 26th. This production is always an amazing display of hard work and talent from our students that makes us fall in love with Shakespeare all over again. Both performances are free and open to the public.

Grandparents & Friends Day- PreK T/Th

(9:00 – 11:00 a.m.) PreK T/Th students may invite grandparents or a special friend to visit them during the school day. We’ll have a coffee and bagel reception, a short presentation on the school, followed by some time together in the classroom. (We always accommodate guests who have more than one child to visit.)

Open House- Winter 2019

Come see our school day in action at our winter 2019 Open House! We’ll have refreshments, offer tours, and answer your questions from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Monday, January 7th, 2019. This is our last Open House of the school year so be sure to save the date. If you have any questions, contact us at info@sccommunityschool.org or call (314) 667-4311.

Christmas Program

Our theme for this year’s SCCS Christmas Program is Christmas Around the World.  Due to our growing size, we will have two programs on the same evening this year. Pre-K and Kindergarten students will perform first from 6:00-6:30pm. We will then have a short break, and 1st-8th graders will then perform. The gym will be opened during the second part of the evening for your younger children to run around, supervised by at least one parent. The program will include songs, poetry recitals, and other class contributions. Please join us to celebrate the season and enjoy the performance our students have prepared!

2018 Walkathon

South City Community School is excited to host its 2018 Walkathon–our largest annual event! Head over to our Walkathon site for full details about this event. Building on last year’s success, we hope to reach this year’s goal of raising $50,000 and beyond. All are invited to join us on this fun day at the Sons of Rest Pavilion in Tower Grove Park. The Walkathon is an opportunity for our family, friends, and neighbors to support the special place SCCS occupies here in St. Louis: a school where families come together to see our city prosper, where children delight in learning, and where we can serve and engage the diversity of our neighborhoods.

Middle School Showcase

Join us for our Middle School Showcase on November 12th at 7:00 p.m. Our middle school teachers Lindsay Perkins (history and language arts) and Micaela Fenwick (math and science) will offer an overview of our 7th and 8th grade curriculum, samples of student work, and more. We will also hear from our education director Brandy Greiner, and from current middle school parents. There will be an opportunity for Q&A. This event is open to both current families and to the general public.

One Heart Pajama Day

On Wednesday, November 7, SCCS will participate in One Heart Pajama Day. We are inviting our students to wear pajamas to school and bring a dollar to donate to One Heart Family Ministries, a local organization that supports adoptive and foster families. SCCS is participating in this event along with six other schools in CSASL. One Heart Family Ministries began in 2004 with the mission to recruit, assist in training, and support Christian families who are fostering and adopting kids through the Missouri foster care system. Every Christmas, One Heart does a Christmas Blessings program for the One Heart families and kids impacted by foster care. Each child receives a new pair of pajamas and either an individual gift for each child valued around $25 or a family membership to... Read More
